Well spring is arriving here in Alberta. Just last night I went for my first Mountain Bike ride of the year with Stu and John. It was still a little snowy and muddy, but we had a good time.... How can you complain when you are biking in double digit weather in March. At any rate I am really looking forward to the upcoming season, should be good times, Moab is only 4 1/2 months away... Plus now that Keith is getting into climbing, it should mean more climbing trips to the mountains, woo hoo.

Oh also I started my motorcycle yesterday as well... summer can't come soon enough.

Just the other day we were sharing stories about ridiculous things that have happened while teaching skiing. The most amusing was a particular individual who rented ski boots, but failed to mention to the rental place that he couldn't get them closed because his legs were to big. By some miracle he made it down the hill for the ski off where based on your skills you are assigned to ski instructors. A few minutes later he is off following his ski instructor. While doing one of the exercises he fell and lost his poles his skis and yup his boots. He did this not once, not twice, but three times he had a complete yard sale. Ahhhh... funny stuff.

Be sure to check out Get Fuzzy (March 30) today. Some good quality grade 8 humour.

Well it's that time again. Another email from Kim's brother Steve:

... Why is it you always start off your e-mails by asking if there's any girls I should know about? Don't you know me? c'mon. Besides i'm counting on you to bring me home my British girl for my birthday. Or you can send her in the mail, i don't care. Anywho, nothing is going on and I almost got up to talk to you this week, but I was kind of sick and you couldn't really talk anyways. But don't worry, I'll make sure I get up this week. I'm looking forward to summer, though, I might just end up working for Seed Centre, as one of the drivers. It should be a good job for the summer because I like to drive and listen to music, it will be relatively mindless, and I should have a lot of time to go out to the lake too. We have a lot of plans for the lake this year. There is an 85 GMC Sierra classic SUV that we found by Steve's place that looks like Colin's old Bronco, but the top comes off, and we were thinking that if we can get it for cheap, we might fix it up and use it as a boat truck. It would be cool. Plus, burger bar girl is now officially old enough to mack on (i know that sounds wrong, but this is me). Know what else? Physics girl has a boyfriend I found out, so that makes me feel a little better about being shut down. Also, I was watching Warren Miller's Extreme world yesterday, and that place you skiied that took like 2 hours to go down was on the show. So now i've been there too (in spirit) I'm sort of jealous right now if your skiing because I havn't gone in a while, even though you're probably getting a little sick of it.

I'll talk to you next Sunday.

Steve love's his big sister
...

It doesn't get any better then that.

Well the sun is out and we are rounding into the end of the ski season. Only a couple of weeks left.

My email is up and running again although there is still an issue and I don't know for how long it will be working. Hopefully everything will be sorted out soon.

Otherwise... summer is on the way!!!

Well as some of you know I can be a bit competitive at times. Lately it has been with snowboarding. I usually get a chance to go once every week or two and everytime I am out I am always telling Vic that we need to work on our 360s. Well I can do a few small grabs and 180s are pretty easy so I figured I was ready for the big time. Vic goes first. Basically lands his 360 giving me even more confidence in my meager abilities. Needless to say I get some speed launch of the jump and start to spin ... in both directions. To the side and into a back flip. My 360 attempt has turned into a Rodeo attempt. Not a good idea and as it turns out my helmet works good and my body is much more flexible then I thought. In other words a head plant followed by folding in half over top of my head. Blah.... Thankfully I wasn't hurt all that seriously and managed to slithered my way down the hill and into a nice hot shower to deal with my back pain.

As a side note I seem to be having some trouble with the website and my teeuwsen.com email. I am talking with the hosting company, but haven't heard back yet. Please send emails to my hotmail account. If you don't know it let me know and I will send you a quick email.

Hello to all out there. Something interesting for you all to check it out. This was shown to me by Craig, who was shown it from Chris. At any rate it is the latest rage that is taking the world by storm, and all I can say is wow... these guys are sick! After doing a google search about it there is a number of websites, pointing to groups all over the world doing this. Just google Le Parkour. Crazy I tell you, ok enough so here it is, check this vid out.

Well that is about all for now... stay tunned, coming in the next week.. Ski Clips from Canada. Oh, and hopefully I can post some more pictures soon.

Plus, The Weakerthans this weeked, I am so excited....

I was thinking about Steve (Kim’s Brother) this week. Seeing as it is international week we have all kinds of British Girls (maybe 10 or so) and they came with one American guy who has been volunteering at their church. It would be a dream come true for Steve to be that American. :-) I guess in life you make choices. Steve could be skiing with British Girls in the Alps or … well … getting his doctorate in Chemistry.

Well it has been a couple of Days. We have been getting rain at the school and snow at the top. Lots of snow. It just keeps falling. I am a little worried that we might have a wet summer. We will see.

This week we have an international weeks so everything is English. Kind of a nice change, but at the same time I really need to work on my German. The title for this week is Israel week. The main speakers run a missions focused hostel in Israel and have some pretty interesting stories especially when you read about all the chaos in the news. It always brings a different perspective when you are talking to people that are experiencing it first hand.

Ahhhh, the long weekend. There is nothing quite like it. Even though we had to work straight through last weekend. I was going to write you a little long weekend poem, but all I could come up with is....

Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
Sugar is Sweet
But the long weekend you can't beat.

hmmm..... well actually pretty good if I don't say so myself.

I have added a couple of pictures from the Ski Tour story. It has been crazy hot here all week. The skiing is still really good and now we are starting to get our spring skiing tans. Hopefully you all have the chance to do the same.

Kim also received a very important hoax warning today from a reliable source:

To all my dear friends,

'Important scam warning', I hate those hoax warnings, but this one
is important!!! Please send this to everyone on your email list.

If a man comes to your front door and says he is conducting a
survey and asks you to show him your bum, DO NOT show him your
bum. This is a scam!! He only wants to see your bum.

I wish I'd got this yesterday. I feel so stupid and cheap.

Well I've been sitting here reading all of your posts of ski trips and schenanigans. It occationaly sends me stewing in pits of longing for the rolling contours of unbroken wind drifts and sparsely treed knolls. So, Friday I hopped on a bus at around 2 in the morning (so Saturday if you like technicalities) and arrived in Kenting at about seven. We headed strait for Frog rock marine park. It's got a gorgous white beach with volcanic rock headlands popping up at one side. I strung up the hammock and with the days work over and it already being sunny and hot, I swam in the cool water, dried off, swam, dried off, played in the sand a little, took a nap, chatted with some other people that came down, and headed out to see Scott play. If you're interested in what ole Scott cook is up to check out www.scottcook.net . The websight name is a little self inflating I'd say. Well I would say if I wasn't writhing on teeuwsen.com. Anyway some stompin' tunes and crashing in my hammock finished things off. No better place to wake up than the beach. You can just jump in that water and straiten your head out and you're already at where you want to be spending the day. Sorry there was no bumbling down stairs on a boogie board or anything so you'll just have to wait for Dan's next post to chuckle.

Well everything is just cruzing along nicely here. I am now officially wearing just the stash (moustache that is). I am not to sure it is the proper look. I mean the ladies dig it and all, but I a married. I think I may have to shave it off or get a bigger ugly stick for beating back the ladies. I will have a picture update soon.

Well I off to baby-sit the bosses kids. Building up brownie points.

Yesterday was amazing. We took the gondola up to the top of the Dachstein where we skied a short way across the glacier climbed up a ladder that was resting against a cliff, through a tunnel in the mountain, across a traverse just above about a 150 meter (not feet) cliff followed by an extremely steep run followed by two more cliffs that where even bigger, then across a ridge that dropped steeply in both directions and finally we came out on the most amazing steep and deep slope. Long and untracked just the way I like it. I captured a few of us including Kim on film so we will see if can put together another movie for you guys. I might just save it till I have a little more footage from another trip. After the first slope we hit another and another and another, but unfortunately the further we went down the warmer it got and by the end we were skiing in about 2 feet of slush. Riding on the very backs of our skis straight down the hill. If you stood up you just stopped in the middle of the hill. Heading nowhere fast. What a great run. I can't wait till we do it again.

Hello Everyone. I know it has been a long time since I last posted, but hey, I guess I just didn't have much to say. Anywho....

I just got back from a glorious weekend of skiing, one of the best I have had in a long time. Went with my good buddy, Rick, and a bunch of his friends, who I guess are now slowly becoming my friends, awwe isn't that sweet. We went for two days, one day spent at Fernie and one day at Kimberley. What a hoot! Hoot hoot! Well I won't bore you with all the details, but I will leave you with one story, well maybe more later, but for now this is all you get.

Ok, so Rick and I have just finished skiing the morning at Kimberley and we are going to go back to our condo to get some lunch. We are standing with our skis on at the bottom of the hill by the ticket window looking down a small set of stairs, maybe a 7 set. Well we are peering down these stairs, and Rick gives me this look, it was a look that said "I wonder if we can ski down the stairs, and then we don't have to take our skis off to ski to the car!" I looked back at him thinking exactly the same thing. We look at the stairs again, and I say "I think it is just wood with a bit of a metal edge." At this time I am already half down them in my mind. I continue, "That wouldn't be much different that sliding a rail in the park" My logic was that rails in the terrain park are metal and skis slide on them, so why not stairs, eh. Rick is getting all ready to go, checking it out, as was I. I think we were both briefly waiting for the other person to go first. Well screw it I am going for it what is the worst that can happen. So I slide forward and lean forward.... and then it happens, I don't slide I stick, but the problem is I have my momentum carrying me forward. So I try to walk to keep up with my self, every step I take sticking and compounding my problem, so I am trying even faster to keep up with my self. Now remember I have skis on and I am going down straight down a set of stairs running, man I wish I had this on video... I digress, I am almost down the stairs, I near jogging speed and I think to my self I am going to make it, this will be alright. But it wasn't meant to be, I came crashing down at the bottom, ski pops off and I land in a crumpled heap..... Rick mean while, I can only imagine his delight in watching this whole scene unfold before his eyes. I come to rest and look up and Rick is just busting a gut, but I must also confess so was I. It was pretty darn funny, maybe you had to be there. I don't what it is, but man I must of been the dumbest skier on the hill, I mean who does this stuff. The thing is, had I waited 10 seconds longer, Rick would have gone first.... Ahh... good times.

What would Sunday be without another email from Kim's brother Steve??? Many of you out there are wondering who is this strangely interesting person who you are both drawn to and repulsed with at the same time. :-) Read on.

8. The first thing you notice about the opposite sex?: hmmmm i not sure...probably the first thing I like to clarify is that they are actually the opposite sex. It can be weird sometimes if you don't.

9. Do you like the person who sent this to you?: jonny awesome? of course. he's almost as cool as me

10. How are you today?: wow! thanks for asking that's so nice of you. I'm feeling pretty good how are you? good? That's super I'm glad. did you have a good weekend? cool. yeah, I know hey? I hate it when that happens too. Really? ...

Another beautiful day! It was incredibly warm out today. It was also the Norwegians last ski day so that almost always means jump day. So we built some nice jumps for them to practice on. There were some spectacular crashes. I did my first back flip of the season. Unfortunately the bindings on the skis that I am using are a bit shaky and I left my skis on the jump. Landed on my feet though.

Another beautiful day in the Alps. We did a big ski tour across the mountains. I did try and film it with the helmet cam, but at first glance I didn't really get a whole lot of footage that was worth while, so we will see if I can put together a little show for you all.

Well after some careful consideration we at teeuwsen.com are thinking that we will start producing shirts and hoodies. I don't know what kind of demand there will be in North American, but the Europeans are eating it up. LOL Feel free to let me know.

Speaking of Europeans it was Maren's last day today. It was good getting to know you Maren and we will miss you!
